In the spring of 2019, I spearheaded a plan to organize a fundraiser for the CKNW Kids' Fund. I became aware of the impact the organisation has in my community, through my mom's volunteer work with their board of directors, and I was inspired to do something for the organization. I recruited some of my friends from high school to help, and we decided to create our own fundraising walkathon. The goal was to walk 75 kilometres in one day to commemorate the charity's 75th anniversary. I'm proud to say that I walked the whole distance, and together with my friends we raised over $10,000! On top of this, we raised awareness for the cause by going on the radio and television to talk about all the great things the charity does.
Because of our common interest in videography, we filmed the entire walk (from the planning process to execution) and are in the process of turning it into a short documentary. Because of COVID, we have been severely delayed in our efforts, but we are expecting to release the film in late 2022. Please find a teaser/trailer available to watch below.
